Segment loss (Causes / Remedies)
Blade too hard for material being cut / use proper blade specification for material being cut.
Overheating due to lack of water / check water feed system and make sure the water flow is adequate
on both sides of blades.
Blade twisting or jamming in cut / keep sawing straight when the blade working (concave blade
exceptional)
Out of round blade / replace worn bearing, realign blade shaft or replace worn blade arbor.
Incorrect blade tension / ensure blade is running at correct RPM.
Excessive cutting speed / slow down the cutting speed .
Undercutting of steel center / use sufficient water to flush out the cut or choose blade with protective
teeth.
Blade worn out of round (Causes / Remedies)
Incorrect mounting of blade / remount blade correctly.
Worn bearings, spindle or blade arbor / replace worn bearing, realign blade shaft or replace worn
blade arbor.
Blade too hard for material being cut / use proper blade specification for material being cut.
Blade arbor out of round (Causes / Remedies)
Blade incorrectly seated / remount the blade correctly.
Worn flanges or flanges not properly tightened / tighten flanges properly or replace worn flanges.
Blade shaft worn / replace worn blade shaft.
Segment cracks (Causes / Remedies)
Blade too hard for material being cut / use proper blade specification for material being cut.
Steel center cracks (Causes / Remedies)
Excessive cutting pressures / slow down the cutting speed and keep correct feed rate.
Incorrect blade tension / ensure blade is running at correct RPM.
Jamming or twisting in cut / keep sawing straight when the blade working (concave blade exceptional)
Overheating / check water feed system and make sure the water flow is adequate on both sides of
blades.
Blade too hard for material being cut / use proper blade specification for material being cut.
Undercutting the steel center (Causes / Remedies)
Abrasion of steel center due to highly abrasive material being cut / use sufficient water to flush out
the chipping or choose blade with protective teeth.
Slow cutting (Causes / Remedies)
Blade becoming glazed due to use on material too hard for bond / To sharpen blade, make fast (3-
4m/min) shallow (3-10mm deep) passed in the material being cut, or in sandstone or asphalt for
quicker results.
Excessive cutting pressure, high shaft RPM, low machine HP or drive belts loose / tune engine
according to manufacturer's manual.
Blade wobbles (Causes / Remedies)
Incorrect mounting of blade / remount blade correctly.
Worn bearings or bent shaft / replace worn bearing or blade shaft.
Blade RPM too high or incorrect tension / ensure blade is running at correct RPM.
Uneven segment wear
Check bearings and spindle for wear, machine alignment and equal water supply to both sides of
blade.
Abnormal wear
Usually caused by dirty water, insufficient water supply to blade, low powered drive motor, worn bearings or shaft, incorrect blade for material being cut.
